Florence Sightseeing Small Group Guided Tour for Families
This 2.5-hour small group walking tour is the perfect way to discover Florence and its beauty!
Our kid-friendly guide will lead you through marvelous Florentine architecture while explaining the wonders of a city which is famous throughout the world for its art and history. The tour will be enhanced with engaging activities suitable for children and adults alike.
The tour will start in Piazza Santa Croce, where you will meet your guide, and here you will see the facade of the astonishing Basilica of Santa Croce, the church where Michelangelo’s tomb is located, before exploring the center of Florence. Your guide will take you to one of the most picturesque points in Florence from where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the city and the surrounding hills: Ponte Vecchio. Then the walking tour will continue to the political heart of the city, where you will see the Town Hall right next to the amazing Loggia in Piazza della Signoria. Moreover, you will also see the the world-famous Uffizi Gallery, designed by the architect Giorgio Vasari, which used to host the magistrates, the seats of the Florentine Guilds, a vast theatre and judiciary offices. Palazzo Vecchio, the historic headquarters of the Florentine Government, is located close to the Uffizi museum.
Next stop will be the old market where you and your kids will have an amusing time playing with the Porcellino fountain. According to popular legend, touching the nose of the Porcellino (a wild boar) will bring good luck!
After that, you will see Piazza della Repubblica, a famous square in the historic center of Florence, and then you will admire the wonderful Basilica of Santa Maria del Fiore, the cathedral that stands tall over the city with its magnificent Renaissance dome designed by Filippo Brunelleschi. The cathedral was built in a typical Italian Gothic style, and its exterior is completely covered by a decorative mix of pink, white and green marble. Our expert guide will fascinate you and your children with stories about how the great dome was built and how it became the symbol of the Italian Renaissance.
Finally you will visit San Lorenzo's market where you can have a typical Italian lunch and take a look at the colorful and interesting goods sold on the market stalls.
This outdoor sightseeing tour will be a rich and fulfilling experience, and since children (and adults) can get tired after such a lot of walking, we recommend that you do this on the first day of your stay in Florence, and that you don't take any other tours on the same day.
