Kid-Friendly Siena & San Gimignano One Day Trip
The whole family will enjoy a day out in the Tuscan countryside exploring 2 of the most visited towns outside Florence. Both are UNESCO World Heritage listed and are full of history. With your expert, kid-friendly guide who’ll accompany you on the 8-hour daytrip, you are sure to have fun with the games and activities planned and fall in love with Tuscany.
The tour will start in Florence and together with your guide and a driver you’ll head to the city of the Palio, Siena. Head to Piazza del Campo where the famous horse race takes place twice a year, in the city’s marvellous, medieval square. Full of bars, restaurants and shops, there is a lot to see as you wander around the narrow streets. Make sure to look up and see the monuments overhead. Listen as your guide gives you insight into the history of the city and the Palio traditions and cultures.
As we head to San Gimignano you’ll make a short stop to see the medieval walled town of Monteriggioni. From the castle walls see the wonderful views over the Chianti region.
Our last stop is in the small, walled village of San Gimignano, famous for its fascinating medieval architecture and towers that rise above the neighbouring buildings offering a stunning view of the city. Originally the town had built around 72 tower-houses as symbols of their wealth and power, although only 14 remain today. Take in the views and the picturesque village as you wander around at your own pace. Stop for lunch at one of the local restaurants offering delicious Tuscan cuisine.
The kids will love the many planned activites and will go home with a wealth of knowledge and a bunch of memories!
